HALL OF FAME CLASSIC EXPERIENCE
The New Haven Chapter selects the Head Coach of the chapter team for the following year no later then early fall. The coach begins the process of putting together his staff for the game which is held each July. In January the coaching staff writes all chapter coach’s asking for nominations to the team. Only senior players are eligible. When the chapter schools submit their names, the game staff meets to select the players to invite.
In early May those players selected are invited to attend a meeting at the New Haven Field House to go over details, including where and when practice will be held, meeting the coaching staff and to become familiar with other team members. Refreshments are served and the players are told to come to the first practice ready to play.
Over the past few years practice sessions have been held at Wilbur Cross High School which is off Exit 6 on I-91. The facility has a room for team meetings and to allow equipment to be left between sessions. Water is provided during practice and beverages are given at the end of practice.
There are generally eight or nine sessions. The last practice is a walk thru with drill executions. After a talk by the coach, and comments by game officials, pizza is provided.
For playing in the game players receive their game jersey, a certificate and a team picture.
It is a great honor to be chosen to play in the Hall of Fame Classic and represent New Haven County in our game each summer. If chosen we feel you will remember the experience for many years.
